The Religion Teacher membership website is finally available! It has been more than a year-long process to get these resources up and available for you to use in class and for you to use for personal growth. I’m excited, today, to open things up for everyone to see.

I’ve been working on building this membership website for over a year now. There is such an incredible need for quality, practical resources for religious educators to use in class and I wanted to create something that was really going to make an impact.

Even back in March 2013, I was brainstorming ideas for creating membership resources. At first I was calling it “The Religion Teacher Membership Zone” or “The Religion Teacher TV,” which are names I never really felt attached to using.

Always, though, the concept was clear:

Videos + Graphic Organizers that supplement and go beyond the textbooks.

AND

Professional development and spiritual formation opportunities for religious educators.

THE GOAL: Student Engagement! Engaging Classroom Experiences!

What Members Can Access

The first most obvious question: what do we get as members of The Religion Teacher?

After the success of the Lent and Advent Activity Packs, I wanted to figure out a way to create a lot of opportunities for teachers and catechists to use video and graphic organizers to teach their students. These videos help religious educators go beyond the textbook with some engaging content that students enjoy.

At the same time, I’ve seen the success of professional development and spiritual formation offerings through the 31 Days to Becoming a Better Religious Educator book, conferences where I spoke, and the online webinars I did in 2013. So, I’ve created a course for classroom engagement, I’m adding video weekly tips for religious educators, and I’ll continue to create new courses and online seminars for members in the months and years ahead.

What Does this Mean for the Free Resources at The Religion Teacher?

Nothing is changing. I’ll still post lesson plans, activities, prayers, and teaching strategies for all religious educators to use and share here at The Religion Teacher. The membership content will be video-focused and more in depth than what I’ve been able to post regularly here at the site.

I’m so grateful for all the amazing people who have come to use the resources here at The Religion Teacher. This week marked the fifth anniversary of The Religion Teacher website and I’m so excited to move forward with this additional form of service. I hope you will join me at this new level so we can turn the tide against the dwindling number of young people and parents learning to love and live their Catholic faith.
