Activities for the Sacred Heart of Jesus & Immaculate Heart of Mary

06/08/2021 By Jared Dees

Activities for the Sacred Heart of Jesus & Immaculate Heart of Mary

Devotions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary have become quite popular with the Catholic Church. Your students will probably be familiar with the images from churches and even popular culture. Beyond the images, they can benefit from an understanding and practice of a devotion to the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts in their daily lives.

I would like to share a few activities to help you teach about the devotions and then direct you towards some prayers you can share in class to help your students actually practice the devotions in their daily lives.

These devotions are perfect during the month of June in celebration of their moving feast days.

My favorite devotional prayer of the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart is the Morning Offering. If you teach students in the morning, this is a wonderful prayer to begin your lessons:

The Morning Offering

O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, for the salvation of souls, the reparation of sins, the reunion of all Christians, and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father this month.

Amen.
