September Contest Opportunities for Religious Educators and Students

09/08/2010 By Jared Dees

There are a few contests roaming around the web right now that I thought you might be interested in. Check them out:

Prize: $500 scholarship for students enrolled in Catholic high schools
Deadline: September 17, 2010
Requirements: 500 word essay titled “Brother André Bessette: A Model for Humble Service”
How to Enter: Have your high school students write their essays based on the suggestions listed on Ave Maria Press’s Engaging Faith blog and send them in by September 17th.

CatholicMom.com
Details at: http://new.catholicmom.com/2010/09/05/win-a-catechist-planning-guide-by-dione-grillo/
Prize: Up to 12 Catechist Handbook and Planning Guides
Deadline: September 11, 2010
How to Enter: Leave a comment on Dione’s post at CatholicMom.com (click on the link above)

The National Initiative for Adolescent Catechesis (NIAC)
Details at http://adolescentcatechesis.org/resources/best-practices-archives/
Prize: $150 in ministry resources
Deadline: September 30, 2010
How to Enter: Share your best practices by completing an online survey. These practices will be collected and posted on the NIAC website. First, read through the Vision and Outcomes Statement and identify what foundation element(s) and/or outcome(s) your effective practice addresses. For example, if your practice is a tool that parents can use to foster faith conversations in the home, then your practice address “Empowered parents and faith-filled families.” Second, map out exactly what the practice/activity/program entails. Do not forget to identify resources needed. Also, if your practice uses any previously copyrighted material-like a prayer from a book or an activity from a magazine-do not copy the text into your description instead cite the title of the item, the author, text name, and page number.
