“Who do you say that I am?” (Mk 8:29)
Today we continue to take actions to become a better disciple. The word “disciple” obviously suggests that we have a teacher: Jesus Christ. Today we will think back on our personal and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ so that we can come to a deeper understanding of our identities as disciples and religious educators.
Day 2 Resources: You and Jesus Christ
Today we ask ourselves three simple questions:
- How did you meet Jesus Christ?
- How did you get to know him over the years?
- What is your relationship with Christ like today?
If you are a visual thinker, use this timeline to fill in the key moments in your relationship with Christ: Relationship with Christ Timeline.
Or simply journal the answers to the questions above, which are given much more detail in the book 31 Days to Becoming a Better Religious Educator.
Taking the time to go through this exercise will bring up memories you’ve nearly forgotten or at least haven’t thought about for awhile. It is ok to dwell on some of those fond or not so fond memories and times in your life where Christ was and was not present. It may be that these are the moments that God wants you do think about today. It may be that these specific moments are how he wants to teach you as his disciple today.
Praise God for the presence of Christ in our lives!
